How to upload a mind (in three not-so-easy steps)

Abstract

A step-by-step exploration of the research and practical challenges of whole brain emulation, or “mind uploading”, largely following the roadmap laid out in Sandberg and Bostrom’s 2008 report. The video breaks the process into three major steps: extracting all the necessary information from a brain, converting it into a computer program, and running that program—surveying current progress on connectomics, brain preservation, scanning technologies, and the computational requirements involved.
