What happens if AI just keeps getting smarter?

Abstract

An extrapolation of the future of AI progress, following a timeline from today’s chatbots to future AI vastly smarter than all of humanity combined. Based on current trends, AI is projected to become AGI (Artificial General Intelligence), which will in turn aid AI progress and self-improve, leading to ASI (Artificial Superintelligence) and ultimately to “God-like” AI—posing a significant existential risk to humanity.
