How is effective altruism related to utilitarianism?

In contrast to the answer by anonymous, I would claim that EA is not compatible with deontological and other non-consequentialist factors. EA is only concerned with producing the best possible consequences and the use of evidence to determine the best approach to that goal. Thus, EA is a particular flavor of utilitarianism, in that it places particular emphasis on the use of statistical analysis and science to determine which actions are right.
