Reckoning with past wrongs: A normative framework

Abstract
A normative framework for responding to past human rights violations is discussed in terms of transitional justice. Goals include truth, providing victims a public platform, accountability and punishment, the rule of law, victim compensation, institutional reform and long-term development, reconciliation, and public deliberation.
