Roller-Coaster: Europe, 1950-2017

Abstract

A history of a divided Europe, from the aftermath of the Second World War to the present. The years from 1950 to 2017 brought peace and relative prosperity to most of Europe, but Europeans experienced a ‘roller-coaster ride’, both in the sense that they were flung through a series of events which threatened disaster, but also in that they were no longer in charge of their own destinies.
