Abstract

Volume 6 of the Advances in Computers series, reflecting the editors’ conviction that application of digital computers to areas akin to human thinking—machine-aided cognition—is one of the most active frontiers of development. Articles in this volume deal with information retrieval and ``ultraintelligent machines,’’ including I.J. Good’s seminal paper originating the concept of technological singularity.
