Abstract

The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy is a free online encyclopedia of philosophy published and maintained by Stanford University. Each entry is written and maintained by an expert in the field, and all entries and substantive updates are refereed by a distinguished Editorial Board before publication. The SEP project began in 1995 and has grown to become the largest and most authoritative online reference work in philosophy, organizing scholars from around the world to create and maintain an up-to-date reference work that satisfies the highest academic standards.
